  • West Brunswick basketball games...

    The varsity high school basketball games scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 3, between West Brunswick and North Brunswick have been postponed.

    With a winter storm approaching, Brunswick County Schools officials announced Tuesday, Jan. 3, that schools would be closed on Wednesday.

    The games will be rescheduled, but a date has not been determined, West Brunswick athletic director Jimmy Fletcher said.

    Results from Dec. 18 at Crow Creek. Bernie Solich secured a first-place finish with a +7 mark, while Pat Eagan, Dave Dunbar and Wayne Averill tied for second place with a +4 ½ ledger. Andy Turlington won the closest-to-the-pin competition on No. 6. Billy Harder was closest to the pin on No. 13.

  • Trojans capture Holiday Classic...

     BOLIVIA – Christmas dinner will taste awfully sweet for members of West Brunswick’s varsity boys’ basketball team.

    The Trojans thumped East Columbus 77-41 in the 2nd Annual Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Holiday Classic championship game Dec. 20 inside the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center on the campus of Brunswick Community College.

  • SMS eighth-grader competes in...

     Carter Wyatt, an eighth-grader at Shallotte Middle School, competed in the second annual Carolina Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Kenan Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

    Wyatt, a star linebacker and running back on Shallotte Middle’s conference championship team this season, played for the North Carolina squad against the top players from South Carolina.

  • Allen named volunteer assistant...

     Former West Brunswick and Brunswick Community College standout Hunter Allen has been named East Carolina baseball’s volunteer assistant coach, according to an announcement last week by ECU head baseball coach Cliff Godwin.

    A two-year letterwinner for the Pirates, Allen will work directly with the outfielders while also assisting with the hitters, base running and infield play. He will also coordinate all of ECU’s summer, fall and winter camps.

  • RBA cheerleaders secure national...

     The Roger Bacon Academy (RBA) Viking cheerleaders once again returned victorious from Walt Disney World in Orlando, where they earned three national championship titles at the 2017 Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships.
