For the past several weeks, fishermen of our area have been blessed with both incredible weather and fishing for January. Another new year has come upon us and the spring fishing season is quickly approaching. Our January weather has been extremely mild with average high temperatures reaching well into the 60’s most of this month. We did see a quick and extreme cold spell in the second week of January that could have been dangerous. The lows quickly dropped into the teens and highs did not reach above the freezing mark for three days. This kind of sudden extreme temperature change can and did result in a cold stun event for our fish stocks.
