“It’s amazing,” South coach Wes Cross said, “because we really weren’t concentrating on scoring. We were concentrating more on our relays—and we qualified all the relays we were trying for (the regional).”

The regional is the qualifier for the state meet.

  • Paradise on Earth: Right here in...

ike many of us who live on the Carolina Coast, my husband and I have had company off and on for the last few months. Family members come to visit for the holidays; friends stop by on their way north or south. Sometimes, our company leaves in the morning. I wash all the sheets and towels, send Gene to the grocery store and more company arrives in the afternoon.
We love visitors. Each time folks come here and exclaim in delight over our fabulous area, we are reminded we really do live in a paradise.

  • In cold weather, use the proper...

The big cold front blew through Brunswick County last week and led to good inshore fishing last weekend.
With sunny days and cold nights a strong possibility this weekend, the fishing should be good again. The weather is just cold enough to keep the inshore redfish and speckled trout bite going and not too cold to shut it off, which means anglers working lures to the schools when the sun is up are having good luck.
