Spring means flounder fishing along the Brunswick County coast. The warmer water brings flounder into inshore waters, and anglers pursue them in many different ways.

The combined Ace and Eagle classes of The First Tee of Brunswick County took a break from their usual Saturday programs and attended a presentation March 26, along with coach Mike Reeves and coach Ed Fort, at The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation. 

Dan Pasquariello, director of instruction at St. James Plantation, gave a presentation about improving one’s golf game to Molly Gore, Landon Patterson, Chris Gotwalt, Ashley Sloup, Greg Hensley and Holden Patterson.

The Special Olympics cheerleading team, the Brunswick Shakers, took home the silver medal in a recent cheerleading tournament. The SONC Cheerleading Tournament was March 12 at Butler High School in Charlotte. The girls were led by head coach Cindy Neely with the help of two assistant coaches, Lindsey Smith and Devan McLachlen, and competed against eight teams. 

 BOILING SPRING LAKES—David Zacek gave up one hit through five innings and reliever Tim Walsh ended the game with two strikeouts with the tying runs on base as North Brunswick beat South Brunswick 6-4 March 29 in a conference baseball game.

Both pitchers were sharp in the early innings. In the top of the third, North’s James White led off with a walk against starter Mark Price. With one out, White stole second. He scored on a single to right field by Tim Walsh.
