  • Golfers support Breast Cancer...

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and golfers in Brunswick County are hosting tournaments, card parties, luncheons and other events to build awareness and to raise money.

Breast Cancer has a special meaning for me because I have lost two close friends to this disease, which strikes one in eight women. Most of us know both victims and survivors of breast cancer, the leading cause of death among women in the world.

  • Hurry up and wait for great fall...

Fall fishing took a hard U-turn on Brunswick County last week. The fantastic Spanish mackerel fishing has slowed, the sharks have been picky on what they’ve been wanting to eat and king mackerel fishing could be compared to watching paint dry. This week has been tough to say the least but it is only a matter of time before the fishing flame rekindles and fall fishing truly begins for Brunswick County.

  • The fine art of golf club...

Recently, I’ve heard about club fitting from several friends. Some have bought a custom-fitted new set; others have taken their old clubs to a club fitter and had them retro-fitted to their swing and body type. One gal swore that her game improved fantastically after getting her old clubs custom-fitted.

  • It is time to go fishing

The weather and fishing is changing rapidly now. Large schools of baitfish have moved into our area and some large predator fish are following them. Everything is migrating south or to deeper water for the winter. Flounder, black drum and redfish are all starting to feed more aggressively with each passing day as the water starts to cool. It is time to go fishing.
