  • AJGA event played at St. James

Last weekend, The Founders Club at St. James Plantation was the site for an American Junior Golf Association preseason tournament. The weather, which had been beastly most of the week, cleared in time to allow 84 junior golfers from around the world to compete in two days of medal play.
I was there and saw some amazing golf.
These are young people, starting out on the road to being touring pros, hoping to get scholarships, begging to be recognized by college coaches.

  • Shock wins another shutout

The Brush Dental Shock (14s) won another soccer match in dominating fashion.
The Shock started fast with Kira Frawley taking the ball quickly down the field and crossing the ball into the center, where Ashley Oakes put it in the back of the net.
“Kira’s speed puts a lot of pressure on any team’s defense,” coach Mark Giordano said, “and when she draws a lot of players to her, she is capable of making a great pass into open teammates.”
Oakes followed with another goal, her second two-goal game of the season.

  • Weather and fishing are finally...

After reading last week’s report by Capt. Barrett McMullan, I am inspired to write at new literary heights. “Far better is it to dare mighty things, though checkered with failure, than to take ranks with those poor souls who live in the quiet of darkness and thus know not the thrill of victory nor the agony of defeat.”
Really? How can I compete with such genius? Here is my best effort, but kudos to Capt. Barrett for such strong presentation.
