    ENID, Okla. — The Brunswick Community College baseball season ended May 31 in an 11-3 loss in eight innings to Jones County (Mississippi) in a fourth-round game of the NJCAA Division II World Series.

    The victory at David Allen Memorial Ballpark advanced Jones County (51-9) to the semifinals.

    BCC, 2-2 in the series, finishes the most successful season in the history of the program 42-18.

     ENID, Okla. — The Brunswick Community College baseball team has reached the fourth round of the NJCAA Division II World Series.

    The Dolphins beat McHenry 12-8 in a loser-out game Monday in the third round of the series at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

    BCC plays at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. If BCC wins, it advances to a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2.

    SHALLOTTE — Tyler Stanley is the West Brunswick Male Athlete of the Year and Hayden Huffman is the West Brunswick Female Athlete of the Year.

    The multiple-sport athletes were among those honored Thursday, May 26, in the annual Senior Awards ceremony.

    Coaches voted Stanley and Huffman as being the Trojans’ top athletes.

    SHALLOTTE — West Brunswick senior Ariella Ortiz signed a letter of intent Thursday, May 26, to attend Montreat College and play lacrosse.

    This is the third signing from coach Kate Gentle’s team.Yet another senior will sign in June, Gentle said.

    “I absolutely fell in love with the sport and I wanted to continue in college,” said Ortiz, one of two West goalkeepers.

    The 2015-16 season was the first for the Cavaliers.
