A Bolivia man died in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning.

George Washington Bellamy, 72, was driving his pewter GMC Sierra pickup truck east on Gilbert Road just before 7 a.m. when he veered right off the road while rounding a curve, N.C. State Highway Patrol 1st Sgt. Matthew King said. The pickup struck a ditch and flipped, trapping Bellamy inside.

Bellamy, who had been traveling alone, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, King said.

Trooper A.S. Godwin responded. It appears speed contributed to the crash, King said.
