CALABASH — Chalk up Calabash as the latest Brunswick County town that wants to keep tax revenue distributions just the way they are.

At the town board of commissioners meeting Oct. 8, members agreed Calabash stands to lose if the county were to change from per capita to an ad valorem formula.

Town administrator Chuck Nance said it’s the town’s largest source of revenue. If the county goes to ad valorem, “we could lose two-thirds of revenue,” he said. “It’s a very serious matter.”
