The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information on a murder.
According to BCSCO spokesman Sgt. Del Routh, a homicide investigation is under way in Longwood.

Deputies were dispatched to 1975 Gwynn Road, NW in Longwood on Tuesday, Nov. 13, around 12:03 p.m. for a death investigation.

“When the deputy arrived on scene, he was met by a relative who was there to check on Linnie Mae Ward, an 86-year-old white female, who was found unresponsive,” Routh said in a press release.

Ward was found dead in her home.

Detectives requested an autopsy to determine if foul play was suspected.

“Today, the autopsy report revealed that the death is a result of blunt force trauma and other injuries,” Routh said on Wednesday. “This is now considered a homicide investigation.”

Sheriff Ingram is offering a $1,000 reward from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and has requested a Governor’s reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of subject(s) responsible for the death of Linnie Mae Ward.

Anyone with information should contact the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office at 253-2777 or call Det. Kyle Jones at 880-4944.
