An Ocean Isle Beach man has announced he will once again be challenging North Carolina Sen. Bill Rabon of Southport in the 2014 election.

Last Saturday, Democrat Danny Hefner issued a news release saying he is seeking election next year to the N.C. State Senate District 8 seat occupied by Rabon, a Southport veterinarian and Republican who is serving his second term in the senate.

Hefner said he is seeking office again because power entrusted to the GOP-led state legislature has been “wielded against the citizens of this great state.”
