Missing swimmer found safe in Ocean Isle Beach

A 26-year-old swimmer reported missing early Thursday morning was found alive in Ocean Isle Beach.

The Coast Guard said the man, who was not identified, was swimming near 371 E. First St. in Ocean Isle Beach when he was reported missing about 3:30 a.m.

After Coast Guard watchstanders received a call from emergency dispatchers about the missing man, Coast Guard Station Oak Island launched a boat to Ocean Isle Beach to help find him. While it was en route, Brunswick County emergency officials called to say the swimmer was located safely on land and was in stable condition.
