Navassa Superfund Site public meeting April 10

The Environmental Protection Agency, N.C. Department of Environmental Quality and the Multistate Trust invite Navassa residents and other stakeholders to a public availability session and public meeting about the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp. Navassa Superfund Site in Navassa on Tuesday, April 10, at the Navassa Community Center, 338 Main St. in Navassa.

The public availability session will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Residents will have an opportunity to talk one-on-one with experts about the site, environmental investigations, redevelopment planning and related topics. Representatives of EPA, NCDEQ and the Multistate Environmental Response Trust will be available to answer questions and share information.

The public meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. EPA, NCDEQ and the Multistate Environmental Response Trust representatives will provide updates on site environmental investigations, the upcoming study of potential remediation options, and possible redevelopment alternatives.

Topics will include environmental investigations, possible remediation options and redevelopment planning. The Multistate Trust will provide light refreshments.
