A well-known Shallotte resident was killed in a tractor accident at his home Wednesday night.

Brunswick County Coroner Greg White said 52-year-old Bruce Henry died when his Oliver farm tractor overturned around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 21.

White said Henry was behind his house on Old Shallotte Road pulling roots with the tractor. Henry had a rope tied around the roots and the tractor flipped over, killing him.

White, a Supply resident, said he had known Henry since their Little League days together.

“Everybody knew Bruce Henry,” White said.
