Two more Brunswick Countians win in lottery

Another $40,000 has been won by Brunswick Countians playing the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Ronald Gore of Longwood won $30,000 in the Sept. 25 Mega Millions drawing. He bought the winning ticket at Inman’s Country Store in Longwood.

Betty Barnhill of Ash scored $10,000 playing the Sept. 26 Powerball game.

The latest big Powerball jackpot grew to $202 million Powerball. It ended with the winning ticket sold in Iowa. 

The jackpot rolled over 11 times during six weeks of sales. Initial estimates indicate sales will generate more than $6.3 million for North Carolina education.

More than 223,000 tickets won prizes totaling more than $2.8 million in the 12 total drawings, including one $1 million prize.

Retailers throughout the state earned more than $1.1 million in commissions from Powerball sales through the weeks the jackpot rolled.

The Powerball drawing on Wednesday, Sept. 26, produced 28,646 winning tickets in North Carolina. Prizes ranged from $4 to $10,000 and totaled $226,075.

 The Saturday, Sept. 22, drawing produced 24,066 winning tickets, totaling $176,881 with amounts ranging from $4 to $10,000.
