SHALLOTTE—West Brunswick High School was locked down as a precautionary measure Friday morning, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Charlie Miller said.

Miller said the school was locked down around 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and they were expected to open the school between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. Friday.

The school was locked down “just to be safe” after law enforcement learned of a shooting threat on the social networking website Facebook earlier this week, Miller said.

After investigating the threat, officials determined it was not West Brunswick cited in the Facebook post, but another school.

“We still went ahead and locked down the school and searched the school just to be safe,” he said.
