Winter storm warning update: Snow, sleet expected Monday

No word yet on how weather will affect local schools

A winter storm warning will be in effect for Brunswick County from 6 a.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow and sleet is expected to fall in the area beginning Monday morning through daybreak Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin as snow early Monday morning, but it is expected to change to sleet before becoming rain.

Snow and sleet could accumulate up to about an inch.

Dangerous travel conditions are expected to develop Monday and linger into Tuesday.

Power outages are possible as ice accumulates and downed trees and limbs are possible.

Monday morning, NWS predicts temperatures will be in the upper 20s and will only increase into the mid 30s by Monday afternoon.
