The next session of Brunswick County Teen Court will be Nov. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brunswick County Courthouse. Brunswick County Teen Court is a partnership program between Communities In Schools and the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office, made possible through financial support provided by the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and Brunswick County Schools.
The annual Wreaths Across America campaign is coming to a close. Nov. 15 is the last day to place an order. The Wreaths Across America campaign is an effort to place a holiday wreath on every veteran’s grave in every national cemetery worldwide Saturday, Dec. 16, at noon. This is a very public event and all are welcome to attend and help place wreaths on graves after the ceremonies.

VFW Calabash Post 7288 at 900 Carter Drive in Calabash will again host a dinner party for area World War II veterans to honor them and to remember Pearl Harbor.
The event is set for Saturday, Dec. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Post 7288. There will be a complimentary dinner for each World War II veteran and one guest.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Roosevelt & Ruth Educational and Recreational Foundation will sponsor a Community Health and Wellness Expo and annual walk-a-thon. The expo will be at the Waccamaw Elementary School gymnasium in Ash. The goal of the expo is to promote good health and wellness practices among the local community and increase awareness of the services that are available locally.
This health education program is made possible through a grant from ATMC.
The Roosevelt and Ruth Marlow Memorial Park project was recently selected by NC Beautiful, WRAL-TV5 and Capitol Broadcasting to receive a prize of 50 azaleas.
The award is part of NC Beautiful’s 32nd annual Azalea Celebration that rewards North Carolina community organizations for improving their communities through creative landscape projects.
Brunswick Family Assistance Agency has begun taking applications, by appointment only, for its Christmas Basket/Tree of Hope program. The agency will continue to take applications through Nov. 6.

A new program at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher focuses on high school students who want to take action to protect the environment.
Ocean stewards will focus on conservation and stewardship to better understand climate science and reduce the impacts of climate change.
Fourteen young people will be selected to participate in monthly meetings, explore outdoors and engage in stewardship activities to conserve coastal habitats. The teens will learn about climate change and then plan and implement a project in the community.
