• Ethan Pannkuk earns Eagle Scout ranking

    Ethan Pannkuk achieved Eagle Scout, the highest rank from the Boy Scouts of America, on Jan. 7.

    Pannkuk chose the Fort Caswell Rifle Range as the focus of his Eagle Scout project. He spent many months researching, planning and raising funds. Then during school vacation March 30-31 last year, Ethan and members from his Boy Scouts of America Troop 210 of Carolina Beach spent two days working on the target pit at the rifle range. They shoveled the years of accumulated soil from the pit and behind the north wall so needed work could be accomplished by heavy machinery.

  • Neville-Hamacher engagement

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Rachel Neville of Supply and Sam Hamacher of Yardley, Pa.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Mike and Pam Neville of Supply.

    The prospective groom is the son of Larry and Amy Hamacher of Yardley, Pa.

    A May 18 wedding is planned in Raleigh.

  • Frink graduates from basic training

    Air Force Airman 1st Class De’montae M. Frink has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Frink completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • 50th wedding anniversary dinner

    Brick Landing Plantation residents celebrate their annual 50th wedding anniversary dinner Nov. 10 at The View in Brick Landing. All residents who have been married 50 years or longer were invited to the event. Twenty-three couples were in attendance to enjoy a dinner and a champagne toast.

  • Sellers family reunion celebrates 80th year

    When the Sellers family gathered in Supply for its 80th anniversary reunion, four people who had attended the very first reunion in 1938 were on hand to take part in this year’s celebration. During the afternoon program, Mary Lou Sellers White of Bolivia, James H. Robinson of Shallotte, Mary Catherine Royal of Supply and Elisha Seller Jr. of Simpsonville, S.C., received special recognition for having been at the reunion as children 80 years ago.

  • Leo Jarmusz celebrates 99th birthday

    Longtime Brunswick County resident and World War II veteran Leo Jarmusz, center, celebrated his 99th birthday Oct. 21. His family traveled from as far away as Vermont and Idaho for festivities at Ocean Isle Beach last weekend to celebrate. His grandson made his birthday cakes.

  • Four great-grandmothers at baby shower

    Marissa DeLuke and Daniel Blanks were recently honored at their baby shower at The Lakes of Calabash clubhouse hosted by Kimberly Abushakra and Catherine DeLuke. Special guests included the expected baby girl’s (Parker Rose) four great-grandmothers. They said they can’t wait to meet their new great-granddaughter Nov. 22.
