  • Leland man gets more than 30 years for child’s death

    A Leland man will spend at least 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and felony child abuse in the January 2015 death of his girlfriend’s 15-month-old son.

    A Superior Court judge, whom a District Attorney’s Office news release did not name, sentenced 38-year-old Albert David Morgan III of Green Hill Road on Friday to between 365 and 450 months in the North Carolina Department of Correction with credit for time served.

    The next session of Brunswick County Teen Court will be Tuesday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brunswick County Courthouse. Brunswick County Teen Court is a partnership program between Communities In Schools of Brunswick County and the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office, made possible through financial support provided by the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and Brunswick County.
