Ocean Isle Beach Police investigated the following incidents during the past week:

    •Larceny of motor vehicle tag on Ocean Isle West Boulevard; suspect removed registration tag from victim’s vehicle.

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on East First Street; suspect broke window trying to enter victim’s home, causing $200 in damage to the window, $50 in damage to the window screen and $75 in damage to the screen door.

  • More vehicle break-ins reported in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Five more vehicular break-ins have been reported in Sunset Beach, bringing the total number of holiday incidents to 12.

    The break-ins were reported to vehicles on Medcalf Drive, as well as Magnolia and Waterway drives, Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said.

    In most incidents nothing was taken, and occurrences involved unlocked cars. Items reported stolen included Global Positioning Systems and iPods.

    Smith once again cautioned residents not to leave anything of value that can be seen in plain view and also to lock vehicles.

  • Wallet loss, theft, damages reported in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Police investigated a lost wallet reported Dec. 11 in the Great Egret Circle area of Sunset Beach.

    A Canadian Border serviceman reported he had lost all his military identification, a Canadian Border badge and badge holder and other items, Sunset Beach Deputy Chief Steve Smith said.

    Police also investigated a report a 41-year-old son stole items from his elderly mother at an address on Indigo Circle.

  • Shallotte man charged with sex crimes; more charges expected

    Shallotte Police officers have arrested a local resident for sex exploitation of a minor, and more charges may be forthcoming, officials say.

    Last week, police charged Marcus James Scott, 40, of 495-4 River Bluff Drive, Apt. 4, Shallotte, with two counts of sex exploitation of a minor. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $6,000 secured bond.

    •Identity theft at GoGas; suspect used victim’s stolen credit card to purchase gas.

    •Larceny of a check and mail tampering on Arnold Palmer Drive; suspect opened victim’s mail and removed a check.

    •Larceny of a pipe laser in the Belk parking lot; suspect took a pipe laser valued at $3,900 from the company’s pickup bed.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police incident reports.

    •Assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female, resisting a public officer, driving while impaired and driving while license revoked on Causeway Drive. Suspect Larry Cheyenne Pigott Jr., 21, was driving while impaired, assaulted his girlfriend, attempted to run her over and ran from officers while being placed under arrest.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.

    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents and charged the following suspects last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports and arrest reports:

    •Burglary on Daddy Court in Shallotte; suspect entered victim’s home, damaging the sliding glass door and stealing food.

    Daniel Lewis Brannon, 18, of 5357 Lakewood Drive, Shallotte, was charged with second-degree burglary, breaking and entering, larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From Dec. 12-13, K-9 deputies patrolled the following areas: Tall Pines, Brunswick Plantation, Brunswick Forest and the Village of Calabash. K-9 deputies also set up driver’s license checkpoints at Pireway Road and Northwest Road.

    K-9 deputies four drug arrests. The following suspects were charged:
