  • Shallotte Crime Report

     The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny by removing items from the victim’s residence on Mulberry Street, Shallotte; suspect took a diamond ring, a diamond bracelet, five gold rings, 75 crystal collectibles, 100 bar glasses and two gold necklaces from the victim’s residence. The suspect told the victim he was taking the items because she owed him rent money.

  • Ocean Isle Beach Crime Report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents last week. All information is taken directly from police reports.

    •Breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, property damage, larceny and attempted larceny from motor vehicle at the fire department on Causeway Drive. An unknown suspect gained entry into a motor vehicle and removed items and caused damage.

    •Property damage to fuel pump and attempted larceny on Causeway Drive; unknown suspect attempted to remove gas from fuel pump causing damage.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Vice Narcotics Unit arrested the following suspects last week.

    •Coty Allen Gales, 17, of 7257 Lula St., Ocean Isle Beach, was charged with conspiring to traffic opium or heroin after a two-month investigation. Gales was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $200,000 secured bond.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering and property damage on Robinson Park Trail in Supply; suspect broke victim’s door and entered residence, breaking the door and the doorframe.

    •Larceny on Charles Street in Supply; suspect stole money from victim’s residence.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office ACE Roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county. The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances.
    The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Jewelry reported stolen in Sunset Beach break-in

    SUNSET BEACH—Police are investigating the theft of jewelry following a break-in reported April 13 at a home on Clubhouse Drive in Sunset Beach.

    Police also investigated the following incidents:

    •On April 5, a window was reported broken at a house on West Main Street after a rock was thrown against it.

    •Thomas Roland Black, 49, of Ocean Isle Beach, was picked up on a probation violation warrant.

    •Shawn A. Lang of Live Oak Drive, Sunset Beach, was arrested on outstanding warrants.

  • South Brunswick student fatally shot at Democratic headquarters

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an early morning fatal shooting in Bolivia.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley said sheriff’s detectives responded to the Brunswick County Democratic Party headquarters on Old Ocean Highway in Bolivia around 1 a.m. Saturday, April 16.

    When they arrived, South Brunswick High School student Marcus London Hankins, 19, was found fatally shot.

  • License plate reported missing in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Police investigated the following incidents reported in recent weeks.

    •A North Carolina vehicle tag was reported lost or stolen from the Food Lion parking lot on April 1.

    •Someone went through a man’s garage on Egret Circle and moved items. Nothing was reported taken. The incident was reported March 28.

    •An Alzheimer’s patient who wandered off was later located in Wrightsville Beach.

  • Two suspects arrested for assault, robbery

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s detectives recently arrested two suspects for an assault and robbery that took place last month.

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley said around 4 p.m. Friday, March 18, two suspects, Michael Anthony Williams and Robert Jefferson Collins II, assaulted subjects at a residence. They then left the home and robbed another victim on Galloway road in Bolivia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office drug report

    Agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Unit arrested a Shallotte man after a traffic stop in Supply on Friday, April 8.

    Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, agents initiated a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Turkey Trap and Stanbury Roads in Supply, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. April Stanley said.

    During the traffic stop, agents searched Shawn Deontae Hewett and seized one ounce of cocaine and digital scales, Stanley said.
