    Oct. 10

    Obtaining property by false pretense and identity theft by using the victim’s name and credit card to purchase miscellaneous items.

    Brandon Micheal Burghardt, 22, of Shandy Court, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer.

    Oct. 14

    Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a controlled substance by possessing marijuana.

    Misdemeanor larceny of a vacuum cleaner, hoverboard and a trash can with a total value of $448 from Wal-Mart on Main Street.

    Oct. 15

    Obtaining property by false pretense by using a fake re-loadable Visa card to receive items totaling $15,000.

    Christian Chessher, 24, of Yellowstone Lane, was arrested on outstanding warrants from Iredell County.

    Russell Skiff, 64, of Gate 3, Ocean Isle Beach, was arrested on a simple possession of schedule III controlled substance charge.

  • Calabash Fire Department September 2017

    During the month of September, the Calabash Fire Department responded to 171 calls: three structure fires, two fire alarms, 16 motor vehicle accidents, one water rescue, one investigation, two mutual aid, 22 public assistance, seven other and 117 EMS first response calls.

     

  • Coffee with a Cop events Oct. 4-5

    The second annual National Coffee with a Cop Day is Wednesday, Oct. 4. Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the citizens they serve together over a cup of coffee to discuss issues and learn more about each other.

    The Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department is partnering with The Office Coffee & Wine Bar at 3280 George II Highway in Boiling Spring Lakes to host its first Coffee with a Cop event.

    Sept. 19

    Penny Annette Lawson, 42, of Inland Drive, Ocean Isle Beach, was arrested on a charge of larceny by employee.

    Richard Brent Henson, 27, of Royal Poste Road, was arrested on larceny and breaking and entering charges in a break-in on Third Street and theft of cash and personal property.

  • State commission recognizes BCSO’s Simpson and West

    Officer Donna S. Simpson of the Brunswick County Sheriffs Office was awarded the Advanced Service Award by the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission on Sept. 15. Simpson was approved for this award for a total of 20.9 years of criminal justice service.

    The purpose of the Advanced Service Award is to recognize dedicated sheriffs’, deputy sheriffs’ and detention officers’ loyal and competent service to a particular North Carolina sheriff’s office, and  to the state of North Carolina.

    Sept. 11

    Lost pocket book containing $260 in cash, credit cards and a driver’s license in the parking lot of Scotchman gas station on Whiteville Road.

    Sept. 12

    Ernest Nmileo Netecia Edyang, 29, was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.

    Brian Scott Cooke, 36, was arrested on charges of violating a domestic violence protective order and driving while impaired.
