  • Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team

    The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team.

    The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    From May 28-June 3, special operations set up checkpoints on N.C. 133, Town Creek Road, Frontage Road, Grey Bridge Road, Ocean Isle Beach Road, U.S. 74 on-ramp, Town Creek Road, George II Highway and Shell Point Road.

  • Shallotte Crime

    The Shallotte Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from police incident and arrest reports.

    The Shallotte police department office is closed to the public while the building undergoes renovations. Anyone wishing to speak to an officer or to obtain a copy of a police report must go to the Southend Task Force building at 130 Cheers Street. The number to reach the police department is 754-6008.

  • Arrests, incidents in Sunset Beach

    Sunset Beach police made the following arrests and investigated the following incidents.

    •On May 29, Sarah Santana Evans, 27, of 2341 Butler Circle, Ash, was arrested for DWI, no operator’s license and no insurance.

    •On May 29, larceny of clothing was reported at a residence in the area of 28th Street.

    •On May 28, Michael Thomason Kilpatrick, 50, of 1133 Forest Drive, North Myrtle Beach, S.C., was arrested for DWI.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office drug report

    The following suspects were charged with narcotics violations:

    •Toni Lynette Milliken, 31, of 1175 Beach Drive, Sunset Beach, was charged with possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Morris Watson, 56, of 7292 Carlon St., Longwood, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    •Owen Eugene Metts Jr., 28, of 2519 High Valley Court, Bolivia, was charged with possession of less than one-half ounce or marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

    •Assault by pointing a gun on Holden Beach Road in Supply on May 26.

    •Assault inflicting serious injury on Holden Beach Road in Supply on May 26.

    •Possession of stolen property on Little Shallotte River Road in Shallotte on May 26.

    •Burglary, larceny and vandalism on Northridge Drive in Supply on May 26; suspect stole a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a PlayStation 3 and $1,200 worth of video games.

  • Supply woman charged with killing boyfriend with her car

    A Supply woman has been arrested for striking her boyfriend with her vehicle, killing him.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Del Routh, sheriff’s deputies responded to a home at 1913 Oxpen Road in Supply around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, May 27. When deputies arrived at the home, they found Michael Anthony Pate, 52, underneath a vehicle.

  • Incidents investigated in Sunset Beach

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents reported in the past week.

    •A case of identity theft and obtaining property by false pretense was reported Monday, May 21. A resident of Magnolia Drive reported her Visa card was used at a Walmart in Houston, Texas.

    •A report of larceny of prescription medication and larceny of $23 in cash in the vicinity of 37th Street on the island was taken on May 20.

    •David Steven McCloud, 46, of 2138 Huckleberry Road, Allentown, Pa., was charged with DWI on May 19.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week:

    •Vandalism on Green Hill Road in Leland on May 18; suspect damaged victim’s mailbox.

    •Burglary and larceny on Hazelnut Trail in Holden Beach on May 18; suspect stole copper pipe and a boat anchor.

    •Larceny on Marina Drive SE in Bolivia on May 18; suspect stole a small refrigerator, a large refrigerator, a DVD player, a Lazy Boy, a sofa, a wooden end table, a white lamp and a wicker patio set.

  • Theft, fraud, DWI in Sunset Beach

    Sunset Beach police investigated the following incidents:

    •Incidents of obtaining property by false pretenses and financial transaction card fraud were reported May 4 at Island Breeze.

    •Breaking-and-entering and larceny from buildings were reported May 11 on Sailfish Street.

    •Patricia N. Barbour, 53, of 1151 Dale Ave., Ocean Isle Beach, was arrested and charged with DWI May 11.
