CAROLINA SHORES—Town commissioners’ approval of the town’s $1,475,844 fiscal 2008-2009 budget June 3 included some tweaks.
Among them is $16,000 earmarked for an alarm or siren system to alert residents in the event of emergencies.
At a June 2 pre-agenda workshop, town commissioner Tom Puls said the alarms could be triggered by any weather emergency such as tornadoes.
Funding could come from the town’s $50,000 reserve police fund, which “might never come to fruition,” he said.
