  • Motorcycle wreck seriously injures two area residents

    On Tuesday, May 31 around 8:39 p.m. a motorcycle wreck on Main Street in Shallotte left two area residents seriously injured.

    Shallotte resident Amber Kennedy was a passenger on the back of a motorcycle driven by Robin Taylor of Winnabow.

    According to NC Highway Patrol Sergeant Daniels, a 2009 Honda Accord attempted to make a left turn in front of the motorcycle driven by Taylor. The Accord hit the motorcycle in front of Don’s Automotive at 5450 Main Street.

    “The vehicle turned in front of the motorcycle,” Daniels said.

  • Grand jury returns indictments

    The Brunswick County Superior Court under the direction of the Honorable Judge Ola M. Lewis with prosecutor Jon David and courtroom clerk Michelle Caulk adjudicated the following cases during a superior court grand jury session on May 23:

    Allen Lavander Alston, 51, of 4751 Hoods Creeks 13, Leland; felony larceny of motor vehicle.

    Armond Terell Beatty, 25, of 9523 Magnolia Drive, Leland; felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule VI controlled substance, misdemeanor carrying concealed gun.

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on May 18, 19, 23 and 24 in Bolivia.
