  • Lady Trojans beat Ashley for...

WILMINGTON – Before the season began, second-year head coach Dylan Johnson said he expected his team to compete in each and every game it played during the 2017-18 campaign.

That’s why he was left scratching his head after his team played uncharacteristically sloppy basketball in a 59-21 loss at Laney on Friday, Dec. 15.

The Trojans (6-3, 1-1) turned the ball over more than 20 times and fell behind by more than 30 points in the third quarter in the 38-point loss.

  • West falls to 4-4 after fourth...

WILMINGTON – After reeling off four straight wins to begin the 2017-18 season, Ty Johnson encouraged his young team to continue its “one game at a time” approach.

He’s still preaching that same message despite his team dropping to 4-4 after three consecutive losses last week, including a 62-51 setback at Laney on Friday, Dec. 15.

The Trojans fell to 0-2 in Mideastern Conference play following an 11-point loss at the hands of the Buccaneers and former West Brunswick head coach Eric Davis on Friday in Wilmington.

The Brunswick Community College (BCC) men’s basketball team entered the 2017 Holiday Classic with a 9-1 record and a seven-game winning streak.

The Dolphins earned a victory in the tournament opener against Shooting for Greatness Prep, but dropped their final two games – one against Chattanooga State (Tenn.) and another against Bryant & Stratton (Va.).
